About Varada

Varada Bedekar stands out as one of the finest young Kathak Classical Dancer of the day. This claim is substantiated by the fact that she not only received her initiation of Kathak Dancing at a tender age of 10 from Guru Pt.Balasaheb Hiremath at Ratnagiri, her birth place, but also she continued with her advance studies under Guru Pt.Manesha Sathe ji,at pune, the famous illustrious Kathak Dancer of world fame, till yesteryears.

She also got an opportunity to learn from Taalyogi Padmshree Pandit Suresh Talwarkar ji. Currently She is also taking advanced training under Guru Pandita Shama Bhate ji. Varada has performed in various prestigious music and dance festivals across the world like Surashree Kesarbai Kerkar Music Festival Goa, Kathak Mahotsav, ICCR Centre Bangkok, Asian Music Festival Kuwait, Pt. Jitendra Abhisheki Samaroh Pune, Thiba Festival, Ratnagiri. She, with such a meritorious background, bordered by her creative learning, is perhaps one of the best & the brightest young classical Kathak Dancers with a very rich repertoire of different themes and also as a choreographer.

Varada’s educational qualifications have always been excellent and examplory and comprise of:-

Master of Arts in Kathak at Lalit Kala Kendra, University of Pune with "A" Grade.
Bachelor of Arts in Music (Vocal)
Passed the 'Nritya Visharad' examination with distinction.
'Nritya Alankar' of Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya, Mandal, Mumbai with first class.

Meticulous & innovative, coupled with a habit of sharpening her artistic ardour continuously, small wonder, she has always given breath taking performances that has dazzled audiences in many a Nritya Mahotsavas.

The most prestigious award Singarmani, by Sursingar Sansad, Mumbai.(2009)
Selected for the assignment to give lessons of Indian classical Dance form ‘Kathak Nritya’ at Indian woman’s club, Bangkok (Thailand) under the patronage of INDIAN AMBASSAEY of Bangkok for the Two years.[2009-2011] Recommended by Guru Talyogi pandit Sureshji Talwalkar.

First prize in the SNDT Youth Festival held in Mumbai in 2003 in the Solo Classical Dance category..
Second prize in the Inter University State level 'Indradhanushya Youth Festival' held in Mumbai in 2006 in the Solo Classical Dance Category.
Participated in Dance work shop of Guru Pt. Birju Maharaj, Pt. Suresh Talwalkar & Pt. Rajendra Gangani.
Performed in Kathak Mahotsava 2007.
Performed solo kathak recital in 48th ‘Kal Ke Kalakar’ Sammelan May 2009.
Performed Solo Kathak Recital at ICCR Centre, Bankgok.
Performed in the seminar on “Gandhi and world peace” organized by Thammasat University, Bangkok embassy of India, Bangkok
Performed in ‘Asian Music Festival’, Kuwait in Oct. 2012 organized by ICCR.
Performed Solo and Kathak Bharatnatyam duet in National Dance Festival, Mhardol, Goa.JAN 2014

She, with such a meritorious background, bordered by her creative learning, is perhaps one of the best & the brightest young classical Kathak Dancers with a very rich repertoire of different themes. She is an excellent choreographer and an equally ardent teacher. The fact that she has been selected to teach Kathak to young & budding artistes by Kala Academy, Goa, bears testimony for her efforts.She is also a doordarshan graded artist and an Empaneled artist of ICCR as well. Varada is working as a faculty for Kathak Dance in Goa Kala Academy.

Presently she is busy with the choreography & Dance workshops and preparing young enthusiasts for Dance performance in Music and Dance festivals to be held around in immediate future.
